The N function in Office Excel 2010
The following tutorial describes the usage and the syntax of the N function that is present in Office Excel 2010 Application.
Description
The N function returns a value converted into a number. i.e., the N function converts the value that is contained by its argument into a number value.
Syntax
The N function has the following syntax and arguments
=N(value)
Where
‘value’ is the only required argument and it is the value that you want to be converted into a number value. See the figure below for details regarding what the N function returns when value refers to or contains different components.

NOTE: - by default, the Excel application converts values as necessary, so it not so much necessary to use the N function to convert values. This function is mainly included for the purpose of compatibility with other various spreadsheet programs.
