The General Panel of the Options window in Firefox browser
The following tutorial will guide you on the settings that are available in the General Panel of the Options window in Firefox browser.
NOTE: the Options window can be revealed by clicking on Tools on the Menu bar and then selecting Options from the drop down list.
The General Panel of the Options window allows the users to:
• Set what web pages should the Firefox should at the start up or when you click on the Home icon.
• Set what the Firefox browser should do when downloading files.
• Mange Add-ons
When you open the Options window and select the General panel, you will observe three sections present under the Panel namely, Startup, Downloads and Add-ons.
Startup
When Firefox starts: this option can be used to set what web pages should the Firefox display when you open it.
• Show my home page: if this option is set, the Firefox displays the home page, that is set underneath.
• Show a blank page: if this option is set, the Firefox displays a blank page.
• Show my windows and Tabs from last time: if this options set, the Firefox displays the windows and tabs that were opened the last time you closed your browser.
Home Page: this option controls what web pages will the Firefox browser displays when you click on the Home button present on the Navigation Toolbar. If the option When Firefox Starts is set to Show my home page, then the Firefox will load all the specified web pages.
Downloads
Show the Downloads window when downloading a file: if this option is check marked, the Firefox displays the Downloads window when you are downloading a file.
Close it when all downloads are finished: if this option is check marked, the Firefox browser closes the downloads window, once the downloading of files are finished.
Save files to: if this option is check marked, the Firefox browser automatically store the download files in a specified folder (for e.g. on the desktop). To choose a folder in which you would like to store the downloaded files, click on Browse button.
Always ask me where to save the files: if you select this option, every time you download a file, the Firefox browser asks you where to save the file.
Add-ons
Click on the Manage Add-ons tab to open the Add-ons Manage window that lets you configure the Themes, extensions and Plugins.
So, these are the settings that are available for you to customize your Browser
through the General panel of the Options window.
