Sync your Google Chrome Data and Settings
Using the Google Chrome Sync feature, you can share your browser data and settings present on one computer with another installation copy of Google Chrome browser present on another computer. For example, you can have all your browser data and settings present on your work computer to be synced with another copy of the browser present on your home computer.

The Google Chrome web browser synchronizes your data and settings by storing them over the Internet when you login with your Google Account. The following steps show you how to configure your Google Chrome browser to synchronize data between two computers.


Do the following in the computer from which you want to sync browsing data and settings.

1) On the Toolbar of your browser, click on the Wrench icon and then from the drop down menu, click on Options.



2) In the Google Chrome Options window thus opened, select Personal stuff panel.



3) Under the Personal stuff panel, in the Sync category, click on the Set up sync button.



4) In the Set up sync window thus opened, login with your Google Gmail account.



5) In the new window thus opened, under the Data Types tab, choose what data you want to sync.

a. If you intend to sync all data, then select the radio button that says Keep everything synced.



b. If you want to sync only certain items, then select the radio button that says Choose what you sync and then select the checkboxes pertaining to those items.



6) While in the same window, under the Encryption tab, you can encrypt all of your sync data with a Sync Passphrase when it is transmitted to Google. To use a Sync passphrase, select the checkbox that says Use a sync passphrase to encrypt my data and click on OK.



7) Enter a passphrase and click on OK.



Important: - once you begin to encrypt your sync data with a Passphrase, you cannot remove the passphrase until you clear your sync data. The passphrase does not leave your computer, and in case if you forget or lose the sync passphrase, you will not be able to sync the data present on your computer with other computers.


8) Once finished setting what data you want to sync and how you want to sync, click on the OK button.


9) The data syncing process may take a few seconds and after that you will receive a success message saying that your Google Chrome data will now be synchronized between computers in which you enable syncing.



Once you are finished with syncing process in one of the computers, you have to enable the sync process in other computer. The following steps show you how.

1) On the Toolbar of the browser, click on the Wrench icon and then from the drop down list, click on Options.

2) In the Google Chrome Options window thus opened, select Personal stuff panel.


3) Under the Personal stuff panel, in the Sync category, click on the Set up sync button.


4) In the Set up sync window thus opened, login with the same Google Gmail account which you used for syncing the data previously and if you used a passphrase to encrypt your data, enter the same passphrase and finally click on OK to successfully configure your data.


5) Once the sync feature is enabled on other computer, you can see all of your browsing data and settings that were present on the first computer will now be available with the other computer.


Managing your sync Account after syncing

This section describes how to manage your sync account once you have enabled syncing your data on different computers.

1) Under the Personal stuff panel, in the Sync category, click on Stop syncing this account button if you no more wish to sync your browsing data and settings with other computers.



2) In the Stop syncing this account dialogue box thus opened, click on the Stop syncing button.



3) This will stop syncing your browsing data and settings in the future.
