Burning CDs and DVDs using Windows Media Player 11

Windows Media Player 11, as you may visualize, permits for burning CDs without your needing to download or buy additional software. Of course, making sure that you have the appropriate hardware for disk burning is up to you. Windows Media Player 11 does have its limitations in that it only permits for burning audio or data CDs or DVDs. Unfortunately, you cannot burn or copy a video DVD, using Windows Media Player. To work with DVDs, you can use the new Windows DVD Maker feature that is available in Windows 7.

Although burning CDs and DVDs is not a new feature in Windows Media Player 11, it does have a helpful new aspect. When you get ready with a CD for burning, a progress bar shows how much space on the disk will be used for your burn compared to the size of the media. There is also a numeric indicator of exactly how much space is left.

Although it is not an essential feature or update in WMP11, being able to measure remaining disk space is certainly a very welcome addition to the application. In the past, it was hard to tell how much space was left, which made picking essential data difficult when deciding which files must absolutely be included when little space remained.
