Configuring Internet Explorer to Work with Other Programs In Windows XP

Internet Explorer maintains connections with six programs related to your use of the Internet:

● An HTML editor

● An e-mail client

● A newsgroup reader

● An Internet conferencing program

● A calendar program

● A contact manager

When you click a particular kind of link on a Web page—a mailto link, for example— Internet Explorer opens the appropriate program. To configure these support programs, choose Tools, Internet Options, and then click the Programs tab, shown in Figure. Select your programs from the categorized lists. (Note that the choices available in these lists depend on the software installed on your system and might not match the ones shown in the figure.)
