When it backs up your phone, it just copy's SMS, contacts, photo's and all that little necessary stuff like settings etc. You then click restore, and it wipe's and reinstalls the OS, then you restore your backed up settings. Aswell as making sure you sync your phone to so that any music, movies etc and apps are kept aswell. Before and then after the restore.

Plus i doubt a restore will fix any battery issues, its been known for years apple has alaways had poor battery life, which is mainly due to their choice in making thin phones, and trying to cramp every component in such a small space, that their isn't enough room for the battery.

Ok so I restored again and re-jailbroke with absinth... still bad battery life. However, I just restored again and I haven't jailbroken - battery life is noticably better. Ive tried redsn0w to jailbreak with, but I keep getting errors. So what are my options? I know I hear jailbreaking doesn't actually cause battery lose, but I think that might be wrong.. well for my phone anyway.

once you have put them back on the iphone download idrive. backup your contacts you can view them online too. then if you ever have to restore your iphone or get a new one just download the app and you can restore your iPhone contacts.
