Default Problem with Hard Drive Space

I have a M61PME-S2 motherboard and I have two drives. BIOS detect both the drives. I drive size is 750 GB. When I try to create a RAID array, it is taking 54 GB. I have also contacted Gigabyte technical support. They say that some array uses the reserved space. Is it possible that?

No. The actual problem is of bad sector and page file. And such used space will show in the drive’s capacity. The disk manufacturer measure the space in decimal kilobytes i.e. 1 KB=1000 bytes. So, 1 GB=1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000,000 bytes.

    But according to computer, a KB is 2^10 = 1024. So, 1 GB = 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes

But, 750,000,000 (your hard drive 750 GB) / 1,073,741,824 = 698 GB, this is what the computer shows in the drive property.
