    Thumbs up Turn on/off user account control (UAC) in vista

    1. Go to START MENU.


    2. In the empty START SEARCH box, type regedit. Press ENTER.


    3. In the UAC prompt, click CONTINUE.


    4. In the regedit window, go as – HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand SOFTWARE, expand MICROSOFT, and then expand WINDOWS. Click CURRENT VERSION, now click POLICIES and now click System.

    5. TURNING OFF UAC,


    IMP - Please note that once you turn off the UAC, you will receive the ALERT WARNING NOTIFICATION in the TASK BAR area through the SECURITY CENTER. It will disappear, once you turn on the UAC.


    a. Right click EnableLUA in the right pane.


    b. Click MODIFY.


    c. Now type ‘0’ in the Edit DWORD (32 Bit) Value box.


    d. Click OK.

    e. You will see the below screen shot after you type ‘0’.

    6. TURN ON THE UAC,



    a. Right click EnableLUA in the right pane.


    b. Now click MODIFY.


    c. In the Edit DWORD (32 Bit) Value, type ‘1’.


    d. Click OK.

    e. Now the registry will appear as figure 1.


    7. Close the regedit.


    8. Restart your system for applying the changes.
