    Thumbs up Changing name for devices with removable storage

    1. Go to START MENU.

    2. In the START SEARCH box, type regedit. Press ENTER.

    3. In the UAC prompt, click CONTINUE.

    4. In the regedit, go as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click SOFTWARE, then click Microsoft, click Windows, then click CurrentVersion and then click explorer.

    5. Right click the explorer.exe in the left pane.

    6. Click MODIFY. Click NEW and KEY.

    7. Now type DriveIcons. Press ENTER.

    8. Right click DriveIcons in the left pane.

    9. Click NEW and KEY.

    10. Type in a letter for the derive name – F: and press ENTER.

    11. Now right click the F: drive and then click NEW and KEY.

    12. Type DefaultLabel. Press ENTER.

    13. Right click the DefaultLabel and click MODIFY.

    14. FOR CHANGING THE DRIVE NAME,


    a. Type name of your choice for the drive – My CD.

    b. Click OK.


    15. FOR RESTORING THE DEFAULT DRIVE NAME,


    a. Let the empty space below VALUE DATA be empty. Click OK.

    17. Now close regedit.
