How to change Aurora Screen Saver settings in Windows 7

You can customize Aurora Screen Saver by following these simple steps:

1) Open Start menu and type regedit in the search box and press Enter key

2) In the Registry Editor window click to expand the folder

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre nt Version\Screensavers\Aurora in the left pane.

3) Right click on empty area in the right pane and choose New and then DWORD (32-bit) Value as shown in the above figure


4) Choose from the following DWORDs and set their properties accordingly

• Amplitude – It holds value between 500000000 and 2000000000. This value will alter the speed of slow motion effect

• Brightness- It holds value between 1000000000 and 1050000000. It controls the brightness of the screen saver

• NumLayers - It holds value between 1 and 15. It determines number of Aurora layers to be displayed.

• Speed - It holds value between 1000000000 and 2100000000. It determines the cycling speed of the waves.


5) To change of the values of the above mentioned DWORDs, right click on it and choose Modify…

6) Click on the Decimal dot in the Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value dialogue box and change the value data according to the values permitted above

7) Finally close Registry Editor window
