How to display or hide Recycle Bin icon in Windows 7

This setting can be used to remove Recycle Bin icon from the Desktop, Windows Explorer, programs that use Windows Explorer windows and from standard Open dialog box.

Note: This setting does not prevent user from accessing Recycle Bin using other methods.

To accomplish this follow these simple steps:

1) Open Start menu and type gpedit.msc in the search box and press Enter key

2) In the Local Group Policy Editor click to expand the folder

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Desktop in the left pane

3) Now double click on Remove Recycle Bin icon from desktop option given in the right pane as highlighted above

4) In the Remove Recycle Bin icon from desktop Properties window click the dot Not configured or Disabled to display Recycle Bin icon in the above mentioned folders or windows

OR

Click on the dot Enabled to hide Recycle Bin icon in the above mentioned folders or windows

5) Now click on Apply and then OK button.

6) Remember to Log off and then Log on or restart your PC for changes to take effect.
