How to delete local copy of user’s offline files at user’s logoff time in Windows 7?

By enabling this setting the local copy of user’s offline files are deleted when the user logoff from the system. Thus the local copy of user’s offline files are retained only till the user is logged on to the system.

To delete local copy of user’s offline files at user’s logoff time follow these simple steps:

    1) Click Start menu button and type gpedit.msc in the search box and press Enter key.

    2) In the Local Group Policy Editor click to expand the folder Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files in the left pane.

    3) Now double click the option At logoff, delete local copy of user's offline files in the right pane as highlighted above

    4) In the At logoff, delete local copy of user's offline files Properties window click on the dot Enabled to delete local copy of user’s offline files at user’s logoff time

Here you can configure to Delete only the temporary offline files by checking on the corresponding box as highlighted above.

    5) Click Apply and then OK button.

    6) Close Local Group Policy Editor window

Default Does not apply to Windows Vista or beyond

If you look at the policy after opening it up in the GPMC it says right in the description that is supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 Only

    The article here:
You may be unable to delete the cache of offline files from the client-side caching (CSC) cache on an offline Windows Vista-based client computer

describes the way that the Windows 6 (and subsequently 6.1) handles offline files.

This setting has no effect on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
