How to prevent access to 16-bit applications in Windows 7?

This setting disallows the users from running 16-bit applications in Windows 7.

To accomplish this follow these simple steps:

1) Open Start menu and type gpedit.msc in the search box and hit Enter key.

2) In the Local Group Policy Editor navigate to the folder

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Application Compatibility in the left pane

3) Now double click on the option Prevent access to 16-bit applications in the right pane

4) In the Prevent access to 16-bit applications window select the dot Enabled to prevent access to 16-bit applications

5) Click Apply and then OK button

6) Close Local Group Policy editor.
