How to remove “Shortcut” prefix from a shortcut name in Windows Vista?
When you create a Shortcut then you can see a Shortcut prefix written before the Shortcut name. You can remove it as per your convenience.
New Folder Shortcut with and without Shortcut prefix:

To accomplish this follow these steps:
1) Open Registry Editor.
2) Navigate to the folder
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer in the left pane.

3) Now right click on the link option and select Modify option as highlighted above
4) In the Edit Binary Value dialog box first copy the value given and save it to a desired place so that if you want to restore it back then you can simply type the previous value.

5) Now replace the previous value with 00 00 00 00 and click OK button.

Note: If you want to restore the Shortcut prefix replace the changed back to previous value.
6) Close Registry Editor
7) Now Log off and then Log on or restart your PC for changes to take effect.
