How to enable or disable Recent Items list in Start Menu in Windows Vista?

You can accomplish this in the following way:

1) Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties option.

2) In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window select the Start Menu tab.

3) Now check the options Store and display a list of recently opened files and Store and display a list of recently opened programs to enable recent items list as highlighted in the above figure

OR

Uncheck the options to disable recent items list

4) Click Apply and then OK button.
