How to Show or Hide Computer name in a Network in Windows Vista?

You can accomplish this in the following manner:

1) Open Registry Editor window

2) Navigate to the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters in the left pane

3) Double click the option hidden in the right pane

4) Type 0 in the Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value dialog box to show Computer name in a Network

OR

Type 1 in the Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value dialog box to hide Computer name in a Network

5) Click OK button

6) Close Registry Editor and restart your Computer for the changes to take effect.
