How to hide desktop.ini files on the Desktop in Windows Vista?

desktop.ini files on the Desktop:

It may happen that even if you have disabled Show hidden files and folders option in the Folder Options window but still you are unable to hide the desktop.ini files on the Desktop.

You can overcome this problem in the following way:

1) Open Folder Options window and click on the View tab

2) Now uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) option

3) Click Yes button to confirm

4) Click Apply button in the Folder Options window

5) Now again check the option Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) and click OK button
