How to Change Mouse Hover Time before a Tooltip is displayed in Windows Vista?

When you hover over any item using the mouse pointer, you get to see a Tooltip that describes that item. If it’s a file or folder, then you get to see its name, space occupied on disk, date created and so on. This tutorial will help you in increasing or decreasing the time before you get to see the tooltip.

You can accomplish this in the following manner:

1) Open Registry Editor and navigate to the branch

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Mouse in the left pane

2) Double click the key value MouseHoverTime in the right pane as highlighted in the figure above

3) Now type the desired time in milliseconds, say 40, in the Value data textbox and press OK button
