Post Desktop icons are missing after reboot

When I rebooted my system, the desktop icons were missing. So, again I rebooted into the Last Know Good Configuration, but no use. Then, I did System Restore, but no use. What to do now in order to fix this problem? Please help me.

    Thanks for any help.

    Default

Click on Start and then type regedit.exe in the Search box and hit Enter. In the Registry Editor, go to the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Then, in the right side, double click on “Shell” and type “explorer.exe” (without quote) in the Value Data box and click on OK and close the Registry Editor. Then, reboot your system.
