How to Change Windows Explorer Default Open Folder Location in Windows Vista?
The default open folder location of Windows Explorer is C:\Users\user_name\Documents folder. However you can change this location and set it to any drive or folder of your choice.

You can accomplish this in the following way:
1) Open Start menu and go to All programs and then Accessories

2) Now right click on the Windows Explorer link and choose Properties option
3) In the Window Explorer Properties window you have to type %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe [/n,] [commands] [folder_location] in the Target textbox
Where /n is for opening a new explorer window and [commands] include:
a) /root is for having only the selected folder and it's sub folders at the top of the folder hierarchy
b) /select is for having the folder's parent folder selected at the folder hierarchy
For e.g. for opening D:\ drive you have to type or copy %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, D:\ in the Target textbox

For opening D:\ Drive as the Root in the Folder hierarchy type or copy %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /root, d:\ in the Target textbox

For opening a specific folder type or copy %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /root, d:\ /select, d:\Abhi\New Folder in the Target textbox

4) Click Apply and then OK button finally
