How to Turn On or Off Windows Defender Notification options in Windows Vista?
Windows Defender Notification messages are displayed in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. These notifications are displayed when there is a change in various software, services, add-ons, system configurations and so on. You can turn on or turn off these notifications as per your convenience.
You can accomplish this in the following way:
1) Open Control Panel (Classic View) and double click the Windows Defender icon

2) Now click the Tools link

3) Now click the Options link
4) Navigate to Real-time protection options section and check the option Use real-time protection if it is unchecked.

5) You can now turn on various notifications related to software, services, add-ons, system configurations and so on by checking them
OR
You can turn off various notifications by unchecking them
6) Click Save button
7) Click Continue button if prompted by UAC
8) Close Windows Defender
