How to Shutdown or Restart a Remote Computer via Remote Desktop Connection in Windows Vista?


If you are connected to a remote computer via Remote Desktop Connection then you must have noticed that you cannot shut down the computer directly from Start menu. The Shutdown button in the Start menu looks like this:

You can accomplish this in the following manner:

Open Start menu and type shutdown in the search space and press Enter key

OR

To restart the computer type shutdown –r in the search space and press Enter key
