How to Enable or Disable Found New Hardware balloon during device installation in Windows Vista?


Whenever you plug in a hardware device to your computer you must have noticed a Found New Hardware balloon that appears in the Notification area of the Taskbar. This tutorial will help you in enabling or disabling this balloon.

You can Enable or Disable “Found New Hardware” balloon in the following way:

1) Open Local Group Policy Editor and expand the folder

Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System \ Device Installation in the left pane

2) Double click the option Turn off “Found New Hardware”… in the right pane as highlighted in the figure above

3) Now select the Enabled dot to disable the “Found New Hardware” balloon

OR

Select the Not Configured or Disabled dot to enable the “Found New Hardware” balloon

4) Click OK button
