How to setup a Virtual Private network (VPN) Connection in Windows Vista?
Virtual Private Network or VPN connection enables a person to access an organization’s intranet from anywhere. VPN helps a traveling worker a lot through which he can access the network files and transfer necessary files.
You can setup a VPN Connection in the following manner:
1) Open Control Panel (Classic View) and double click the Network and Sharing Center icon

2) Now click the link Set up a connection or network in the left pane

3) Choose Connect to a workplace option and click Next button

4) Now choose one of the option Use my Internet connection (most common) or Dial directly

5) Now type the IP Address or domain name of the VPN and the Destination name
Note: You have to type the Telephone number instead of IP address if you choose Dial directly option the step 4

6) Now choose one or more of the given three options as applicable and click Next button
7) Now type the username and password and type the Domain name (VPN’s internal Domain name) and click Create button.

8) The connection will now be established. You may need to consult your system administrator in case of an error related to domain name or IP address and other troubleshooting issues.
