Default Configure Trust Logic for File Attachments

How to Configure Trust Logic for File Attachments in Windows Vista?

Trust logic is used by Vista to take necessary action upon downloading the File Attachments from the Internet. This can be used to enhance the security of your system.

You can accomplish this in the following way:

1) Open Local Group Policy Editor and expand the branch

User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Attachment Manager in the left pane

2) Now double click the option Trust Logic for File Attachments in the right pane

3) Click the Enabled dot and select one of the following option from the dropdown list

Preferring the File Handler – Vista here decides depending on the file handler i.e. program associated with the file type to open it and perform various operations on it. For e.g. it trusts MS Word program but not .doc

Preferring the file type - Vista here decides depending on the file type i.e. its extension. For e.g. it trusts .doc format regardless of the handler

Looking at the file handler and type – Stricter than the others. Considers both file type and file handler.

4) Click Apply and then OK button
