Default Store Passwords Using Reversible Encryption

How to Store Passwords Using Reversible Encryption in Windows Vista?

Storing password using reversible encryption means storing them in the format same as plain text. The OS by default stores passwords by encrypting them to strengthen security.

Note: You must not store password using reversible encryption unless you are aware of the possible security threats and unless it is of utmost importance.

To accomplish this follow these steps:

1) Open Local Security Policy Editor and expand the branch Account Policies \ Password Policy in the left pane

2) Double click the option Store passwords using reversible encryption in the right pane

3) Select the dot Enabled and click Apply and then OK button
