How to Change Ribbons Screen Saver Settings in Windows Vista? Ribbons Screen Saver: Figure 1 By default Vista does not allows you to change the Ribbons Screen Saver Settings. On doing this you will get the following error: Figure 2 However you can change it using Registry Editor . To accomplish this follow these steps: 1) Open Registry Editor and navigate to the key branch HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Screensavers \ Ribbons in the left pane Figure 3 2) Right click on the right pane and select New and then DWORD (32-bit) Value option as shown in the above figure 3) Name this DWORD as one of the following options: • Blur – Can have value 0 or 1. Value 0 enables the fade effect and 1 disables it. • Numribbons – Can have value between 1 and 100. This determines the number of ribbons to be displayed on the screen. • RibbonWidth – Can have value between 1000000000 and 1080000000. Sets the width of the ribbons. 4) Let us name the DWORD as Blur Figure 4 5) Now double click the Blur DOWRD and select the Decimal dot Figure 5 6) Now type 0 to enable the fade effect and 1 to disable it in the Value data textbox as shown in the figure above. 7) Repeat steps 2 to 6 to set other settings shown in the list above. 8) Close Registry Editor |
