How to Add or Remove Exceptions in AutoCorrect Option of Word 2007

Microsoft Word 2007 has provided an option to AutoCorrect text written incorrectly by accident. This feature if enabled Corrects First letters, INitial CAps and Other Corrections of a word, if typed incorrectly by accident. Correction occurs immediately after you type a word incorrectly and press a formatting function i.e. Space, Enter etc. Disabling this feature will require user to do the task manually. However, time comes when user feels that every time correction is not required and they want some word to be written specifically without interference of the AutoCorrect feature. Here, Adding or Removing of Exception in AutoCorrect Option of Word 2007 comes in picture. Exceptions Can be added or removed from the following Auto Corrections: -

1. Correction on First Letter: - Capitalizes the First letter automatically of a word according to grammar constraints. User can add or remove specific words to this section which they didnít want to be corrected.

2. Correction on Initial Caps: - Automatically corrects two initial letter of a word if typed incorrectly by accident. However you can add or remove exceptions to this auto correction feature.

3. Other Corrections: - All the other Corrections like spelling mistake, grammar etc comes under this option. You can add or remove exceptions to this feature also.

Steps to Add or Remove Exceptions to AutoCorrect feature in Word 2007: -

1. Left Click on Microsoft Office Button, then Left Click on Word Options button.

2. Left Click on Proofing tab Option in Left pane and Left Click on AutoCorrect Options... button Under AutoCorrect Options Section in the Right Pane of the Word Options Dialog box.

3. Left Click on AutoCorrect tab and Left Click on Exceptions... Button.

4. For Adding Exceptions Go to Step 5 and For Removing Exceptions Go to Step 6.

5. Left Click on First Letter tab and Type the Exception in the Text box below Donít capitalize after: section of the AutoCorrect Exceptions Dialog box. As soon as you type a letter, Add button will activate. Left Click on Add button and Left Click on OK button.

Left Click on INitial CAps tab and Type the Exception in the Text box below Donít correct: section of the AutoCorrect Exception Dialog box. As soon as you type a letter, Add button will activate. Left Click on Add button and Left Click on OK button.

Left Click on Other Corrections tab and Type the Exception in the Text box below Donít correct: section of the AutoCorrect Exception Dialog box. As soon as you type a letter, Add button will activate. Left Click on Add button and Left Click on OK button.

6. Left Click on First Letter tab and Left Click on the Exception you want to remove from the List below Donít capitalize after: section of the AutoCorrect Exception Dialog box. As soon as you select a word, Delete button will activate. Left Click on Delete button and Left Click on OK button.
