How to Enable or Disable Windows Search Box in Windows 7


Windows Search basically appears in Start menu and Windows Explorer Window. When you type an item name in the search space provided, Windows will search for the items by the names you have specified in the Search Space on your computer.

However many Users don't seem to be fond of Windows Search box. Users can Enable or Disable Windows Search Box any time they want from both Start Menu and Windows Explorer. You can follow the below mentioned steps to Enable or Disable Windows Search Box from Start Menu and Windows Explorer both at a time.


Steps to Enable or Disable Windows Search Box: -


1. Go to Control Panel (All Items View). Left Click on Programs and Features Link.

2. Left Click on Turn Windows features on or off in the Left Pane of the Programs and Features Dialog Box.

3. Left Click on Yes button If, prompted by User Account Control (UAC). Windows Features Dialog Box will open.


4. Drag down the list and Check the Checkbox: Windows Search to Enable Windows Search Box in Start Menu and Windows Explorer. Left Click on OK Button of Windows Feartures Dialog Box.

Left Click to Uncheck the Checkbox: Windows Search to Disable Windows Search Box from Start Menu and Windows Explorer. Left Click on Yes Button if, prompted by Windows Features (Warning Message Box) when Disabling Windows Search. Left Click on Yes Button of Windows Features Dialog Box. Wait Until Microsoft Windows Makes Changes and Prompts you for Restart.

5. Left Click on Restart now button to Reboot you Computer.
