How to show or hide white space between pages in Print Layout view in Word 2010

Microsoft Word 2010 has provided various features to improve user interaction with the application. Features related with the view of document pages and appearance of the application plays an important role in improving user interaction with the application. Some users don’t like the white spaces (i.e. the header and footer spaces) between pages. So, there is an option provided to show or hide the white spaces between pages in the document.

You can enable the feature to show white spaces between pages in Print Layout view, this makes you assured of how the document will look in when it is printed. However, if you don’t want white spaces to appear you can disable this option. Few steps to show or hide white spaces between pages in print layout view are given below.

Steps to show or hide white spaces between pages in Print Layout view: -

1) Click the Microsoft Office button to view its sub-options. Now click on “Word” tab and then click on “Options” button located just below the “Word” tab.

OR

Click on “Word” tab which will make its sub-options visible in the right pane attached to the “Word” tab. Click on “Options” tab from the sub-options in the right pane located below “Microsoft Tools” section of “Word” tab.

Click on “Display” tab in left pane of the “Word Options” dialog box. Doing so will make all the features related to display options visible in the right pane of “Word Options” dialog box. Click in the checkbox “Show white space between pages in Print Layout view” located under the “Page display options” section to check and enable the feature.

OR

Click in the checkbox labelled as “Show white space between pages in Print Layout view” located below the “Page display options” section to uncheck and disable the feature.

Click on OK button to close the “Word Options” dialog box.
