How to enable or disable mouse to wake-up your computer when in sleep mode in Windows 7

There are numerous feature provided by Windows 7 to its users. One of them is a feature that can enable users to use mouse as a waking device for your computer when in sleep mode. Also those who are unaware of the fact that mouse can be used to wake up your computer can enable or disable this option as per their requirements. Follow few of the steps mentioned below to learn enabling and disabling the mouse as a waking-up device for your computer when it is in sleep mode.

Steps to enable or disable mouse to wake-up your computer when in sleep mode: -

1. Open “Mouse Properties” dialog box by following either of the two ways mentioned below: -

a) Click on Start Orb and type “Mouse” in the search space. Press enter or click on the “Mouse” link.

b) Go to Control Panel (All Items View) and click on “Mouse” link.

2. First click on “Hardware” tab and then click on name of the “Mouse” for which you want to change settings from the list under “Devices:” section. Now click on “Properties” button located in “Mouse Properties” dialog box.

3. Now click on “General” tab and then click on “Change settings” button from the properties dialog box of the selected mouse for which you want to change settings.

4. Click on Yes button if prompted by, User Account Control (UAC).

5. Click on “Power Management” tab and then check the checkbox for “Allow this device to wake the computer”. This will enable that particular mouse to wake-up your computer when in sleep mode. Now click on “OK” button.

OR

Click on “Power Management” tab and then check the checkbox for “Allow this device to wake the computer”. This will enable that particular mouse to wake-up your computer when in sleep mode. Now click on “OK” button.

6. Click on “OK” button of the “Mouse Properties” dialog box.
