How to enable or disable don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid option of Word 2010

Microsoft Word 2010 allows its users to develop documents and view them as if they were created in different application which supports documents created using word to open or created using different version of same application. This allows a user to get a preview of the document as if created in some other version of same application or some other application which supports documents to open. Output layout for a document can be chosen pretty easily. (Ref to this article: - Choose an output layout for the documents created of Word 2010). In addition you can also select the layout type as 'Custom' to manually select the layout options by enabling or disabling them. Enabling and disabling of an option among layout options for not allowing hanging punctuation when character grid is enabled, is explained by below mentioned steps. 'Don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid' option when enabled; prevent Word 2010 from allowing hanging punctuation marks in with character grid is enabled. Hanging punctuation (bullet marks, hyphens, quotation marks etc.) are the punctuation marks on the text which do not oppose the flow of the text. The option comes disabled when Word 2010 is installed for the first time on your computer. Go through the below mentioned steps to learn the enabling and disabling of don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid option, yourself.

Steps to enable or disable don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid option of Word 2010: -

1. First of all click on button for "Microsoft Office" sub-options and the follow any one step among the mentioned under to access the dialog box for "Word Options".

a) Click on the button tagged as "Options". You will find it located under the tab tagged as "Word".

b) Click on the tab tagged as "Word" and look towards its adjacent side for "Options" tab and then click on that tab. You will find the tab located under "Microsoft Tools" section.

2. Now, as the "Word Options" dialog box is open you are ready to proceed further. First click on "Advanced" tab present in left part of dialog box of "Word Options" and then search for "Compatibility options for:" section. Click on the plus (+) mark of the "Layout Options" label located under the "Compatibility options for:" section to access the layout options.

3. Find 'Don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid' option and its checkbox, under the "Layout Options" label once you expand it. Then click in the checkbox to put a right mark (check) inside the checkbox. This means that you are enabling the option for not allowing hanging punctuation marks on text when the character grid is enabled.

OR

Find 'Don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid' option and its checkbox, under the "Layout Options" label once you expand it. Then click in the checkbox to clear (uncheck) the checkbox. This means that you are disabling the option for not allowing hanging punctuation marks on text when the character grid is enabled.

4. Click on "OK button of the dialog box of "Word Options" to close it.

After tracing the above mentioned steps, you are now capable to enable or disable "Don’t allow hanging punctuation with character grid" option of Word 2010.
