Creating Candlestick Charts in Excel 2007:-

A basic candlestick chart requires a data range with date in the first column, then open, high, low, and close values in the remaining columns. To create a candlestick chart, you follow these steps:

1. Download data from Yahoo finance. Your data will be in the correct sequence, with Date in column A, Open in column B, High in column C, Low in column D, and Close in column E.

2. Select your data in columns A;E.

3. On the Insert ribbon, select Other Charts, Stock, Open-High-Low-Close. Excel creates the top chart in the Figure (given below).

(The top chart shows the default chart created in step 3. Minimal formatting changes are required to create the final chart at the bottom of this figure.)

4. Right-click the numbers along the vertical axis and choose Format Axis. Specify a fixed minimum value that is greater than zero but lower than the low value for the range in question.

5. On the Layout ribbon, choose Legend, None.

6. Still on the Layout ribbon, choose Chart Title, Above Chart. Type the title GOOG 2006 and press Enter.

7. Right-click the labels along the horizontal axis and choose Format Axis. On the Number tab, specify the custom formatting code mmmmm.

8. Reduce the horizontal size of the chart.
