    How to customize file block settings for OpenDocument text files in Word 2010

    Word 2010 application allows a user to create and save file with a huge set of formatting and customization functions. In addition, there are settings provided for blockage of a particular type of file. The file block settings corresponding to particular types of file are open and save. When Open option for particular type of file is selected then Word 2010 will prevent opening of such type of file or will open them in protected view as no editing can be done in them. When Save option for particular type of file is selected then Word 2010 will prevent the saving of the file. Users are allowed to check both open and save checkboxes corresponding to the file blocks setting for a particular type of file. To learn customization of file block settings for OpenDocument text files for Word 2010, follow the steps mentioned below to do so.

    Steps to customize file block settings for OpenDocument text files in Word 2010: -

    1. Open the dialog box for "Word Options" by following a step from the under mentioned ones

    a. Click the button for options of "Microsoft Office" Word, and after that click on the button tagged as "Options", which is placed below the tab tagged as "Word".

    OR

    b. Click the button for options of "Microsoft Office" Word, and after that click the tab tagged as "Word". Find tab tagged as "Options" in adjacent part of the tab tagged as "Word" and then click on it. You will see it placed under the section entitled as "Microsoft Tools".

    2. Click on tab tagged as "Trust Center" and then from the other part adjacent to the "Trust Center" tab, click on the button tagged as "Trust Center Settings..." from the dialog box for "Word Options", which will invoke the dialog box for "Trust Center".

    3. First click the "File Block Settings" tab from the left part of the "Trust Center" dialog box and then from the adjacent part of the dialog box, click in the respective checkboxes, under Open and Save categories for the option "OpenDocument Text Files" to check (put a right mark in) them, which will enable either Open, Save or both Open and Save file block setting (which ever are checked) for OpenDocument Text Files.

    OR

    First click the "File Block Settings" tab from the left part of the "Trust Center" dialog box and then from the adjacent part of the dialog box, click in the respective checkboxes, under Open and Save categories for the option "OpenDocument Text Files" to uncheck (clear) them, which will disable either Open, Save or both Open and Save file block setting (which ever are unchecked) for OpenDocument Text Files.

    4. Close the dialog box for "Trust Center" by clicking on the "OK" button of the dialog box.

    5. Click the "OK" button of the dialog box for "Word Options" to close the dialog box.

    Soon after tracing the above noted steps, a user is capable to customize file block setting for OpenDocument Text Files in Word 2010.
