Save the Reply to a message in the same folder as the message is present

When you reply to a message that is not present in the Inbox mail folder, the reply to that message by default will be saved in the ‘Sent Mail’ folder of your Outlook Application. If you do not want the reply to a particular message in some other folder to be saved in the sent mail folder, you can have the Outlook Application save the reply to a particular message in the same mail folder as the message is present.

For example, if you reply to a message that is in the ‘Starred’ mail folder, the reply will be saved in the Starred mail folder itself and not in the sent Mail folder. So today we will see how to achieve this feature in MS Outlook 2010 Application.

1) Click on the ‘File’ tab and then on the ‘Options’ tab.

2) In the ‘Outlook Options’ window, select the ‘Mail’ category and then scroll your mouse a little bit to find the ‘Save Messages’ category.

3) Under this category, select the checkbox that says “when replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder”.

So, from here onwards when you reply to the messages which are present in other mail folders other than the inbox, the replies will be saved in the same mail folder as the message is present.
